this really was bad, I had to watch the credits to see why these actors would do this kind of movie. How much money they had invested in it. it really sucked.

Well done! A movie that needed to be made. A story that needed to be told.

I ejected this one after all the initial swearing and from boredom. Thx

To truly understand what is happening, if you're not a sophisticated financially literate person, then watch this movie first, read the book, then re-watch this movie. The pervasive madness that caused the housing crash still permeates…

Quite a good movie showing the fraud on Wall street. The "good guys" in this move shorted their positions but at the end of the move they "sold" their position to secure the profit....this did not make sense to me. It seems to me that…

Unbelievable but true. This film runs on lots of star power to tell the inside story of the 2008 financial meltdown. Stars Christian Bale, Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt.

An interesting and thought provoking movie that bears a repeat viewing to get all the points it makes! I’ll be reading the book as well!

Entertaining even if you are not a financial whiz and you don't know anything about the stock market or mortgage lending. Brad Pitt subsumes his strong, well known actor self into an understated role. It's a very testosterone environment…

amazing tale about people who created financial package that were eagerly purchased thinking that they would not fail, then, they did. Insightful.

There were a few brief uncomfortable moments, but aside from that, I really enjoyed it's creativity and spunk. It's really different from most movies nowadays, but this, for me, became a classic. Each character delivered well and I…

This was the best movie of 2015 by far. Infuriating and hilarious. Hard to believe the same guy did Anchorman.

A really superb "fact based thriller", a very limited recap of real events during the Great Recession of 2008 --- caused by the subprime mortgage-based financial derivatives collapse --- which put the US and Europe's banking and financial…

An excellent portrayal of how easily a whole community of well-paid executives, from bankers, credit raters, and investment consultants, can be lured into a bubble of their own importance, and totally miss the point of life on earth. Many…

A much needed popular explanation of the housing crisis. It's bit confusing and long winded at times though. Fantastic performances from an all star cast make this one shine.

Inaccurate and incomplete telling of the housing crisis of 2005 to 2010. For one thing, the biggest villains were not the bankers, but the politicians, after all, they are the ones who make the rules and enforce the regulations. Yet, the…

This is a film which takes a potentially arid and perplexing subject and makes an entertaining, amusing, and most amazingly, understandable story out of the financial collapse of 2008. Even the fact that the characters are mostly obnoxious…

not worth putting your name on the library hold list. this is a silly comedy that could have been just 90 minutes. it jumps from one crazy character to another with ear deafening music in the background. it reveals little about the…

Fairly mediocre account of stock market finagling that involved relatively few people. It DIDN'T result in another depression, it hadn't the scope of October 1929. Steve Carell is manic sometimes and bland other times, Brad Pitt phones it…

This quasi-documentary is done in the style of Assaya's "Carlos", but isn't nearly as informative (or good.) It would have been a lot better if it was extended to 5 or 6 hours and a lot more detail given regarding the details of the…

Directed by Adam McKay in 2015 based on the 2010 book of the same name, this dramedy depicts the 2007–2008 financial crisis triggered by the United States housing bubble. Although prominent actors star in thie movie, the depiction of the…

In Adam McKays hyped-up comedy-drama based on Michael Lewis’ book he gives a distinctly sardonic spin to what went down in the months leading up to the Great Recession of 2007 and his all-star cast—Ryan Gosling as an amoral opportunist,…

Informative and entertaining. Steve Carrel is a treat to watch, as always, even when he's being serious. Christian Bale does admirably, and I was surprised to find Brad Pitt as well. The movie doesn't take itself too seriously, and the…
