In 1945, an infant left inadvertently to die in the jungles of the Belgian Congo is discovered by a young Bashilele tribesman on a mission to claim the head of an enemy. Recognized as human--despite her pale white skin and strange blue eyes--the baby is brought into the tribe and raised as its own. Thirteen years later, the girl--now called "Ugly Eyes"--will find herself at the center of a controversy that will rock two separate societies.

Love this book/series. My suggestion is to read them in order: I read book #3 first because I didn't realize it was part of a series. The books stand alone, but you get a better sense of character development if you read them in order [so read The Witchdoctor's Wife first]

This book is so quirky and really really funny. Transports you to another time and place.

Second in a new series for Myers, raisied in the former Belgian Congo. Gives a real feel for the time and setting (1950's), humorous and quirky.
