I may be biased [having grown up an orphan myself], but I believe this is one of the best, if not the best [always hopeful for future Bosches, though] yet - - - Mr. C. outdoes himself in the carefully crafted plotting with this masterfully engaging mystery.

I did not see that ending coming. Another good read about Harry Bosch.

I was enthralled.I'm so glad Allen and Unwin saw fit to re-issue it for Down-Under fans of Harry Bosch.Long may it stay in print.

The story moves along fairly slowly. But I would consider it required reading for Bosch fans. It expands his back story significantly and provides insight into his melancholy history and character. Looking forward to reading more.

Connelly gives the reader a deeper picture of Harry Bosch in this book as he investigates the death of his mother while on stress leave from the LAPD. He has recently lost his girl friend and his house has been condemned after the earthquake shook the house off its moorings. In the course of interviewing people with information about his mother's case, Harry meets and gets involved with a new lady. His relationship with her complicates his life in new ways, but also provides a crucial alibi for a murder he finds himself accused of when he returns from FL. A great read with many twists and turns. I didn't want it to end.

I've always enjoyed Michael Connelly's books, and The Last Coyote is one of the best Harry Bosch novels I've read. Connelly continues to develop his Bosch character with each novel, and readers get a glimpse into his [Bosch's] past even more this time around, including his childhood and relationship with his mother ('nuff said). A great story with some unexpected twists as the story reaches its dénouement. If you're looking for a book to complement The Black Echo and The Concrete Blonde, I recommend this one. But don't hesitate to read Connelly's other novels as well.
