There is nothing I like better than to read books about books! So I was very happy to pick up Book Lust To Go which is the third book I have read by librarian, Nancy Pearl. In this issue the focus is on global reading and the reader is guided through over 100 destinations and provided with the names and authors of books that Ms. Pearl recommends. I did find the book was slanted more toward non-fiction reads and as it was published in 2010 was slightly dated, but as an avid armchair traveler I still managed to add to my list of future reading.

I got the feeling that Nancy Pearl hasn't actually read many of these books. Mostly it made me want to write my own version of this book.

Nancy Pearl introduces this rather odd guide by admitting she doesn't like to travel. Perhaps the task of recommending fiction and non-fiction for world travellers should have been passed on to a travel enthusiast. While I certainly found some interesting titles to add to my TBR, I have to seriously question a book that offers a larger section on the city of Detroit than the entire countries of Canada and India and offers more titles for Baltimore than the entire history and civilization of Egypt.

The book mentions only titles for the most part. Fails to point out Fiction from non and seems to favor war books.

Barely a mention of books that don't cover the Vietnam war. Some countries completely omitted.

The author her self openly admits that she hates to travel on the first page of this book.

Useful for finding a list of good reads for somewhere you may be travelling. Also if you just like to read about other places.

A dangerous book for someone who is prone to book lust. You may suddenly find your "to read" list doubling in size!
