Just as compelling as articles Conlon wrote for The New Yorker under teh name Marcus Laffey. Wonderful cahracterization, and a story that takes you right into the streets and precint houses of New York.

Years ago I read Blue Bloods and thoroughly enjoyed the book.Red on Red started great then quickly slowed to a crawl.

I picked this up simply because I liked the title. Lesson learned. It was a good read but probably only because I am a reader by nature. It did not deliver to my "Great Title" expectations.

Good gritty crime drama written by a member of the NYPD with a Harvard degree. Makes it a thoughtful, meaty read.

I like the idea of this book in that it follows 2 detectives rather than focussing on one crime and the reader gets a real feel for the characters and their relationship. It is quite funny at times plus brutal. But I think it needed some severe editing and about half way through I realised I had lost interest. Didn't do it for me.
