I really interesting book to flip through... perfect if you are starting out and want to see what's out there or if you are proficient in 1+ crochet methods and want to see how you can expand. However it isn't a book of only patterns. Each method talks about the pattern writer, describes the methods, shows pictures of 1+ items (if only one item then several shots), and then gives you a single pattern... still worth your time taking out and lets you see what's out there but probably not worth buying... at least look at it first.

I don't crochet. This book makes me want to give it a proper try. Eye candy and diverse techniques: NOT A HOW TO, but a good overview of the possibilities.

This book has gone to the top of my Must Buy list.
Beautifully illustrated with gorgeous photographs of completed works. A pattern to follow for each aspect of fiber work. Well written and really focusses on the pioneers.

Beautiful book and pictures from very talented artists, however . . . the majority of pictures are just that. We only get 1 pattern or just technique explanation from each artist represented. Flipping through the book initially, I couldn't wait to try some ideas, then found no pattern! More of an art book with a few instructions.

This is an interesting book, but you should not expect to "master" any technique just from the information provided here. The biographical sketches of the designers are interesting, but only a snapshot of each technique is given.
