Stephen Kenyon, the new Duke of Ashburton, has always known exactly what society expected of him. But a doctor's grim diagnosis leaves him longing to experience life as never before. Traveling incognito, he becomes entangled with a wandering theater family and their spirited adopted daughter, Rosalind Jordan. With no time to waste in courtship, Stephen convinces Rosalind to marry him-an arrangement that has advantages for both. The warm companionship and profound passion they share is more than Stephen expected, and far more than his family and his own guarded nature ever allowed. But each passing, perfect day together is a bittersweet reminder that love is the one thing he is not at liberty to offer, and the one thing she can never admit.

Since my introduction to varied and wonderful world of historical romance, 2 years ago. I have read many books, never going places without one in my hand or on my person. Some have been stories to make you laugh and cry, to make you cheer and pray, to make you bark out laughter at a character's cleverness, and un fortunately some have made me mad with disappointment. Leading me in with a promise of an intriguing story and character's with promising potential, but this book....... HAS DELIVERED!!!!!! I love the character development but she doesn't dwell on the tragedy of our Rose's past or get's side tracked with the intriguing side characters she stay's on track and gave me one of the best experiences EVER!!!!! this book, the love, the adventure, the strength of both heroin and hero; which he most certainly is, the joy it brought me and the tears all granting me one of the greatest emotional experiences over a story, as I said before, ever. If your looking for a moving well written story with great depth and great characters please read this book I beg of you!!!! It is worth it! I'm even buying it so that I may read it again whenever I desire, and boy do I desire.
