I hope, for your sake, that you have not chosen to read this book because you are in the mood for a pleasant experience. If this is the case, I advise you to put this book down instantaneously, because of all the books describing the unhappy lives of the Baudelaire orphans, The miserable mill might be the unhappiest yet. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are sent to Paltryville to work in a lumber mill, and they find disaster and misfortune lurking behind every log. The pages of this book, I'm sorry to inform you, contain such unpleasantries as a giant pincher machine, a bad casserole, a man with a cloud of smoke where his head should be, a hypnotist, a terrible accident resulting in injury, and coupons. I have promised to write down the entire history of these three poor children, but you haven't, so if you prefer stories that are more heartwarming, please feel free to make another selection.

I like this book, but it is probably my least favorite of the series. But the rest are good and for them to make sense you have to read this one! It was hard to read because I felt so bad for the characters and often had to put it down. It made me thankful for my family though. Overall, it was an OK book. I would read it again for sure. Some parts are VERY good. Like the part towards the end. ;) Anyways, good book. Good series.

I loved this book so much. My favourite part was when Violet and Sunny tried to un hypnotise Klaus. This book is my second favourite. My favourite is the Hostile Hospital. I cant wait for the next series on Netflix comes. I love the mystery and suspition this book holds.

This one I didn't like as the previous books. I mean, this time Count Olaf and his team wanted to saw a person in pieces?? They hypnotized a Baudelaire? A really weird guy called "Sir" whose head is never seen pays his workers in *coupons*?? And why does Mr. Poe just always stand there and say to Olaf: "You're under arrest"? Every time Count Olaf just runs!! I wish the author came up with some other ways for the Baudelaires to be unfortunate than just "new home, in comes Count Olaf in disguise, he tries to get the Baudelaire fortune somehow, the three siblings outsmart him, Mr. Poe is called, Olaf runs away."

I liked this book because it was very interesting and kept me reading. My favourite part was when Violet and Sunny where trying to figure out how to unhypnotize Klaus by reading the book. I also liked when the baudelaire's where trying to get used to the work at the lumber mills. Overall, I have no negative feedback about this book.

This is indeed an unfortunate episode in the Baudelaire saga. Count Olaf gets more and more crafty and continues to deceive the adults who should be protecting the orphans.

The writing continues to be filled with dry humor while at the same time ratcheting up the tension. You just can't look away. Onward to episode #5!
