My favorite of the Rule of Scoundrels series by MacLean. I loved Lady Phillippa's scientific way of approaching life. And the interplay between her and Cross, one of the owners of a notorious casino, is priceless. A very fun diversion if you are a regency fan.

Not Sarah MacLean's best effort. The early chapters setting up the storyline feel like filler & are complicated by the fact that everybody has 2 or 3 names. The storyline is implausible, even for an historical romance, the hero is a stick, & the conversations are wooden. Don't waste your time.

Not a particularly believable couple in that the chemistry felt very forced and saccharin. The plot was ridiculous (really, Pippa's beloved older sister is unable to talk to her about sex? Really? I have four older sisters and any one of them would have - to varying degrees - been more than willing to talk to me about sex. I doubt that much has changed in sisterly relationships) and the heroine is not very sympathetic.

The resolution of the story felt rushed and incomplete. Pippa's "jilted" fiancé storyline was tied up much too neatly. And what exactly happened to the Earl's sister?!
