Jodi Picoult highlights the guilt, shame and moral repercussions that occur when bad decisions are made in our lives. An amazing novel about forgiveness and the redemption of past mistakes.

After a while, the concentration camp story contributed to my depressive episode. The horrors are well described and likely very accurate but I had to stop for my own mental health. This was my first Jodi Picoult novel; I had imagined her as a romance sort of author. Picoult works back and forth between present and past initially, but then she stays in the past for many chapters and when she finally comes back to the other storyline, it was difficult to get back to the flow that had been established.

I've listened to a few of Jodi Picoult's books and read a couple. This is my favorite so far. I enjoy her writing style and the way each character tells their story. It is difficult to listen to some parts, but spellbinding. I recommend this as either a listen or a read.

The legacy of the holocaust of WW II and the moral issues it raises in 20th century America.

I have read several Jodi Picoult's books and this is her best. The story is absolutely riveting. You have to be able to bear the painful descriptions of Nazi brutalitym but you will be rewarded with a amazing book.

This book should be a must-read before kids graduate from high school! With the apathy shown in some of our kids today about the Holocaust this book may bring some "light" to the atrocities we humans dealt upon other humans. How does Picoult come up with such controversial yet heart-wrenching topics?

As with all Jodi Picoult's books, this one was very complex. It was very tough to read when it delved into the stories from Auschwitz. However, as with all of her books, there was a HUGE twist at the end which would have made an excellent story for book club discussion.

This book is wonderful, a must read. I enjoyed it so much considered reading it in a book form.

This audio book is wonderful. I did not want it to end. At times the story is hard to listen to but the voices bring this yarn alive. Highly recommend this book.
