Banal comic-book sci-fi eye candy, with a lot left unexplained. Since this is based on a graphic novel, it might work better as an animated feature, or an anime series, rather than this CG-overstuffed “live-action” potboiler. It deserves to be consigned to its own name.

If I havde 30 holds on my account, knowing ALL are NOT at home with me, where does your majesty think they are? I have now 6 DVDs , Scott says 3 in the mail, and I'm very certain the other 21 are, once, again NOT on a high numbered wait list, very most certainly; I've been ever so faithful and insistent in returning ALL I've ever received, ever, ever you'd think you'd have the courtesy to keep your computers posted properly!

Really hope you rectify this serious problem as rapidly as you have in the past. Ever yours, jsj, MS

Leaves you wondering how he survived feet away from an Atomic Blast! Does not attempt to explain this at all!

It was also difficult to engage in the characters or appreciate any special effects. Plotline was a bit shaky too. One of Cruise's worst films!

A boring film, I can't watch it all.

If you can't handle Dr.Who don't watch this film, it's not for typical distracted people.

Don't miss this very tasty sci-fi/romance smorgasbord! Oblivion is one of our all-time favorite science fiction movies. The fast, intricate plot benefits from multiple viewings. Years after first viewing it, we still quote from the film, "we ARE an EFFECTIVE team" (a line whose meaning becomes emotionally complex and surprising as the film progresses). The quotable, intricate script handily weaves compelling themes of sci-fi and romance into exciting action sequences made meaningful by earnest performances. Come on, forget your previous associations about Tom Cruise and go with the flow, as he and others in this entertaining movie are well cast. Don't let anyone spoil the plot surprises before you judge it for yourself. The minimalist insect-like design and flight characteristics of the Bubble Ship are thrilling. Stunning sound effects enliven the gunship drones with malevolent personality. I love films like this shot in natural landscapes: director Kosinski goes way out of his way to capture in-camera the effective performances along with cool Bubble Ship placed in Iceland's ethereal volcanic landscape, using summer's round-the-clock magic hour light. Striking special effects are integrated well when necessary to achieve hyper reality. (Only a few canyon flying scenes and "Tet" scenes suffered from tight budget). For the stunning, futuristic Sky Tower set (built on a soundstage in Baton Rouge), 21 front-screen projectors displayed spectacular clouds (captured at various times of day atop awesome Haleakala Volcano, Maui) onto a huge wraparound backdrop in one continuous image (instead of using blue screen special effects), visibly creating a house in the clouds for the actors. Soaring, driving music helps unify the picture through the end credits. On the order of "Blade Runner" in impact, "Oblivion" may become known in hindsight as a sci-fi genre classic.

movie is good, even with Tom in it, how many times is he going to play someone named Jack? the CGI isn't too bad or overpowering.

My grade for this film is Z-minus (or F-minus, if you prefer). Virtually all the scenes are disjointed. Tom Cruise's character whispers most of his lines, making it almost impossible to hear him. The "music" is far too loud, obliterating much of the dialogue. I agree with "Derringer," that the storyline is unintelligent, and very unworthy of the talents of Morgan Freeman, who I was surprised to see in such a film. You won't miss anything by skipping it.

A surprisingly well done 21st Century made Science Fiction flick. Obviously fairly low budget but it didn't suffer for it with people who watched and loved mid-20th Century SciFi movies. Some might complain the special effects were hokey, and maybe they were. I didn't watch it to be awed by the special effects. I watched it for entertainment, which it provided sufficiently.
