Nearly as good as the Three Dark Crowns series! Blake’s utilization of the Greek gods was very well done, and I enjoyed exploring their new lives and visualizing their characters and voices. The other creatures were also very well executed, though I ended up imagining the Nereids like the Amphibian Man from “The Shape of Water”, which made me slightly more sympathetic to their cause. (Probably not the the best idea.) The writing was spectacular, and for the most part, Blake stayed pretty true to Greek mythology, which I admired greatly. Many books with mythology incorporated into their plots often miss the mark and are ridiculously inaccurate, so it was really nice to see that, for the most part, Antigoddess stuck to the original mythology. Thank you, Mrs. Blake.

This book was everything Kendare Blake promised. When gods start to die, they really don't take it very well. Especially when they are dying in such gruesome ways as described in this book. Athena, accompanied by Hermes and Odysseus, is on a mission to find the reincarnated Cassandra of Troy because Demeter has said Cassandra will be a game changer. Determined not to die, Athena will do whatever it takes to find Cassandra before Hera, Poseidon, and Aphrodite. A lot of big names, I know, but they are beautifully written and truly are not taking death well - why would you when you are a god and eternal? Definitely gold in my book.

An okay read. I really enjoyed 'Anna dressed in blood' but this title was not as good as that series. It was also kinda graphic with the violence description which I felt was a little unnecessary and the characters were not very smart.

first in a series called Goddess War
Readers are taken into a world where gods and goddesses live among us. One day the gods start to get sick, these are immortals that are finding out that they are not immortal after all. Athena and Hermes travel the world to gather allies and they meet enimies. These gods need to find the cause of their slow deaths. Then we are introduced to Cassandra and ordinary girl who does not believe in gods and myths but she just might be the key.

I enjoyed reading this book although parts of it made me cringe. The gods are dying and are trying to find a way to save themselves. There are a few reincarnated characters as well. A good mix of past and present.

Kendare Blake knows how to tell a story, and a pretty good one at that. Homeric knowledge of the Greek gods is not required, but it's nice to get the few winks/nods if you have. Characters and plot are the forefront of this novel, making it fairly fast-paced and compelling. Like Anna Dressed in Blood and Girl of Nightmares, there's plenty of gore, but none of it felt unnecessary. She also knows how to end a book well, especially since it's part of a projected series. I'll be back not because there's a cliff-hanger ending, but because her characters are compelling, as is the world only briefly sketched in Antigoddess. Recommended.
