This action drama follows Lucas Hood, an ex-convict who improbably becomes sheriff of a rural, Amish-area town while searching for a woman he last saw 15 years ago, when he gave himself up to police to let her escape after a jewel heist. Living in Banshee under an assumed name, Carrie Hopewell is now married with kids and is trying to keep a low profile. Lucas not only tries to rekindle things with Carrie but has to deal with a town riddled with drugs, gambling and corruption.

I can understand how the graphic violence and sexuality might be a turn-off for some people.

I on the other hand was swept away by the amazing plots, fascinating multi-layered charcters and imaginative settings. Watching this again reminded me of how blown away I was by this series when I watched the initial airing on Cinemax.

I highly recommend this series!! Seldom have I watched anything that caught me up and left me breathless by what I had just seen, and hungering to see what was going to happen in the next episode.

There’s a lot of graphic violence and sex in nearly every episode - VERY graphic! If that’s not your thing then stop reading, you will hate this show. If you don’t mind suspending belief and if you love well choreographed, long, elaborate fight scenes, this might be for you. It’s true, the plot is preposterous, but I still found it exciting and entertaining; I was invested in and rooted for the naughty but likable characters? I know I’ll be in the minority of women liking this kind of show, but I know I’m not the only one. This was the brain candy I needed.

I didn't check this out before I checked it out. Big mistake! From the plot summary I kind of assumed it was going to be an Amish Twin Peaks kind of thing, played for laughs.
It definitely is not. Imo it's classic adolescent male gaming fantasy fare.

I enjoy action-packed escapism, but I prefer it be packaged in a little-bit of realism, While this series is steeped in constant, mature-themed action it has very little else going for it. It will become tedious to watch if you're even a little sensitive to preposterous story-lines and formulaic writing, so I suggest it be taken in small doses. Bottom line: If you enjoy an occasional indulgence in fast-paced, empty intellectual calories, this will suffice.

The story/writing is definitely creative. An evil narcissistic ostracized former Mennonite who owns the town. An ex-con with a sheriff position that falls into his lap... and he: Pulls. It. Off. Far fetched? Absolutely. Violent? Yup. Gratuitous sex? Uh-huh. Will I continue on to Season Two? You betcha.

It is just more about sex than anything else.

Extreme, graphic violence and obscenity.

An interesting story. The smartness comes shining through. Negative is the parade of sex scenes, soft-porn variety, whose noisiness is exceeded only by their unconvincingness and violence. the story, littered with intriguingly repellent characters, like Kai Proctorlocal evil tycoon, grows ever more enticing. Lots of tension.

Too many flashbacks and an unbelievable plot, but it holds your interest. Very graphic violence, if that is a concern.
