This was such a compulsive book. I loved the characters and how they view motherhood, marriage, and their lives as modern women. If you haven't watch the show yet I suggest

This for me was Lianne Moriarty at her best. I had seen the HBO show first and wanted to see how the book had been adapted. It was interesting to me how some characters were blended or not included to make the story more streamlined for TV. I was not disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book even though I knew the ending.

An interesting book that made you reading nonstop. Life is a drama, and this book tells us that no matter big or little lies, they will be exposed under the sun sooner or later.

She kept me guessing until the end--who died, who did it, and why. Funny, thoughtful and overall entertaining.

Technically a mystery, I guess, although the characters and setting are really the stars. It's a small community and everyone's in everyone's business, often in petty ways. It would be a nightmare to live in, but I still really enjoyed reading it.

Then we get into the secrets that individuals were concealing despite the nosiness of neighbors. The scenes of abuse, and particularly how people cover it up and justify it to themselves, were hard to read but excellent.

Things wrapped up a bit too neatly for my taste, but a quite good read overall.

Its one of those books that once you (well me :-) ) start reading them, you find it very difficult to put them down. The story introduces friendship of three main characters, who seemingly lead very different lives. However, what seems to be, is actually quite different that what lies beneath the surface.
I enjoyed the book very much, and looking forward to reading more of Moriatry's novels .

I really enjoyed this book, especially the climax. Did not see that coming! I loved the mini-series also.

The characters in this book (especially the women) are so well-written and the way Moriarty delivers the story is so perfect to the setting. The author gathers several different perspectives to piece together this tale of crime in a rich, Australian suburb. I did not think the ending was predictable and I'm the kind of paranoid reader who suspects everyone. Despite the large number of pages, you'll get through this book pretty quickly since every answer is followed by a new question.

The usual Liane Moriarty - very light, very entertaining, with a bit of twist at the end. Easy read - have to watch the TV series.

This is my kind of book. It starts out like a superficial chick story, but then it grabs you and pulls you in with the several ongoing mysteries. The last page made me surprisingly tear up.

A murder ... a tragic accident...or just parents behaving badly? What's indisputable is that someone is dead, but who is responsible?

This novel jumps back and forth between the events leading up to, and following a suspicious death at the Pirriwee Public School parent body trivia night. It focuses on three mothers, each at a crossroad in their lives, whose children attend the same school. Madeline is a woman who remembers everything and forgives no one, is struggling to come to terms with a defiant teenage daughter who prefers to be with her ex-husband and his yogi wife. Celeste is a stunningly beautiful mother of twin mischievous boys is married to a hedge fund husband; to all appearances they are set to be the next king and queen of the parent body. Then there is, new-to-town single mom Jane who has concerns about her son is taken under the wing of Madeline and Celeste. When an incident occurs at school involving Jane’s son, drama inevitably ensues.

Liane Moriarty writes a fast paced and engrossing novel filled with suspense and a splash of witty and humorous dialog, surrounded by a wonderful cast of characters who are both flawed and relatable. Her story showcases the effects of school yard gossip, where appearances can be deceiving and you never really know what someone else is going through or what secrets they are keeping. Sometimes it is the little lies that we tell ourselves that can turn out to be the most lethal.

Despite the size of this book, it will have you reading late until the night.

To be made into HBO series in 2016.
