Classy BBC series about two sisters, aspiring fashion designers, their lives and loves.

A genuine aesthetic experience from the perspective of the women's luxury fashion industry and the literary art of the prose script. The first season has a an impressive grande finale. I loved it!

Two sisters start a fashion house in 1920s London. Working hard to make their business venture a success, they struggle with financial uncertainty. Beautiful 1920s dresses are worn by much of the cast. The series was written by the creators of Upstairs Downstairs, Jean Marsh and Eileen Atkins. Subplots include the lives of the sisters, their workroom staff and their high society clientele. Watched all three series. Only wish there were more!

Very engaging during the early episodes when the Eliotts are struggling with multiple barriers, but my interest waned once those issues were resolved and day-to-day crises took over. Also found the casting to be wrong-footed. Not sure I want to watch series 2.

Enjoyable British TV series; I am pleased to see that there are two more seasons to watch! I agree with another commenter who mentioned that multiple writers for the show gave some of the characters inconsistent behaviors, but those minor flaws are forgivable. Beautiful fashions and 1920s-era details, and I'm a new fan of Stella Gonet and Louise Lombard.

A good series especially the first season. The episodes switch between several different writers and we found that it made for some inconsistency between the characters. The clothes are gorgeous though and if you enjoy vintage fashion its a real treat!
