"Exposes [what the author sees as] the ugly truth about the Communists blacklisted from the film industry. Too often, the 'Hollywood Ten' brought before the House Un-American Activities Committee are memorialized as victims of an unjust witch-hunt and heroes who stood up for free speech. [He claims that] the truth is shocking: not only did these supposed liberal paragons adore Josef Stalin and take their orders directly from the Communist Party, but they also sympathized with Adolf Hitler"--Amazon.com.

Betrays a basic misunderstanding of leftist political movements. People who "adore Stalin" do not also "admire Hitler" -- Ryskind is confusing leftists/communists with reactionary conservatives/fascists. That is such a basic fallacy. More of the same old capitalist red-baiting.

The author would be better served by analyzing which Americans actually supported (and funded) Hitler. He would find a list of American industrialists, including Henry Ford. Certainly NOT communists.

Reading this book which documents the collaboration of the American German Bund and the Communist Party and their roles in sabotage of the war effort while Hitler and Stalin were pals with their Peace pact is like discovering everything you've ever been taught, is a lie. You can bet money that the new film coming out on Dalton Trumbo will hide his pro-nazi period!
