With startlingly frank insights and an intimate portrayal of the artistic process, the film examines what makes us who we are, and celebrates the transformative power of the creative spirit. Featuring appearances by longtime Cave collaborators Ray Winstone, Blixa Bargeld, Warren Ellis and Kylie Minogue, 20 000 Days on earth fuses drama and reality by weaving the journey of a fictional day in the life of the rock star with an intimate portrayal of his artistic process.

One of the best movies I have seen this year, and you don't have to be a Nick Cave fan to appreciate it. The immediate frame is Cave and sidekick Warren Ellis working up the 2013 album, PUSH THE SKY AWAY, but the bigger picture encompasses memory, creativity and, in the final bravura in-concert performance of "Jubilee Street," humanity itself. For anyone who has struggled with letters, with paints and pencil, with song and dance, this film offers an innovative deconstruction of the creative process from an artist who is not only a rocker but an accomplished novelist. The anecdotes alone, related on screen about Nina Simone in concert (Cave) as well as The Killer, Jerry Lee Lewis (Ellis), are worth checking out this DVD.

" It's a fiction, yet throughout the film the truth bumps up here and there "- Nick Cave. A faux documentary?- a constructed document?- either way this is an engrossing and interesting film about the singer/songwriter Nick Cave ( with some good cameos ). Sad to see the short clip of his son, after hearing about his death recently.
