This a pleasant enough release, as she is quite the talent (see other comments for her history),and sings this stuff well enough but this release is nothing to jump up and down about.

A solo debut album release by a powerful voice that has been previously associated with the Carolina Chocolate Drops string band. Rhiannon Giddens is the featured voice in the Grammy Award winning (Best Traditional Folk Album) African-American string band. She sang and played up front and center on their five albums and it was only a matter of time before Giddens vocals would propel her on to a solo career. “Tomorrow is My Turn” features a selection of songs steeped in history yet full of fresh voice and energy. Checked this out after listening to "Didn't Leave Nobody But the Baby," "Waterboy" and "Siomadh Rud Tha Dhith Orm - Ciamar A Nì Mi 'N Dannsa Dìreach" in the live recording of "Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of "Inside Llewyn Davis" CDs and wanted more of Rhiannon. Not disappointed and really enjoyed this list of folk songs with some blues and a little bluegrass country as well. Give her more time, may be an equal to Joan Baez some day.
Rhiannon Giddens famously from the Carolina Chocolate Drops manages to take songs from popular singers like Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline and make them her own. She has a beautiful voice. See her in concert if she's ever in your area.
this was a really touching song. literally I wanted to scream because I was in so much pain. my ears started bleeding. but besides that its a good listen for anyone who is depth.
Rhiannon Giddens is a classically trained opera singer who plays a mean banjo. Her folksy songs are fun, full of passion and a few are down right beautiful. I suggest checking out her performance at Bonnaroo this year!
