This is a unique retelling of Beauty and the Beast filled with intriguing, dangerous faeries and their mystical escapades. It reminded me a lot of Twilight in its ending (spoiler alert). Be prepared for a hefty serving of (mature) romantic encounters. For anyone wanting to try a fantasy book for ... Read More »

Wonderful and romantic young adult fairy tale from the author of the "Throne of Glass" series. Available in book, audiobook CD, and e-book formats.

A fantastical retelling that blends mystical creatures, romance and danger with a heroic heroine.

A richly intense, mature fairy tale retelling that I didn't want to put down--even when I reached the end of the story. This was recommended to me as a "Beauty and the Beast" retelling--which is not inaccurate--but I saw more of the "East of the Sun, West of the Moon" tale in... Read More »

For fans of super-romantic teen fantasy. Feels derivative of Melissa Marr and Robin McKinley...but not in a bad way.

This is such a good story! I'm listening to the audiobook and there have been times I didn't want to get out of the car and I had to bring the book inside so I could finish up the book over the weekend. Book two is not coming fast enough from the library.

I picked this up by accident. I flipped to a random page and started reading. Confused.

WOW. Seriously wow. This romantic fantasy is basically if Beauty and the Beast and Twilight had a baby in fairyland and I CAN NOT GET ENOUGH. So delicious and fun and heartbreaking and it's a series! What more could a person want?

I was skeptical going into it because of the amount of hype the author and her books are getting but in the end, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Excited to see what happens next.

Is a Young Adult book, but is still quite fun for the adult fantasy reader.

As another breathtaking series by Sarah J Maas, this book is filled to the brim with twists and turns the whole way never leaving you with a dull moment. A court of thorns and roses is the first book in the series where you are introduced to Ferye, a ordinary girl in poverty who has to support her family on her own. But every thing that she thought she knew changes the moment she kills a wolf that is all but ordinary. This series is a definite thriller and it will have you on the edge of you seat for the whole time.

This is definitely my favorite series I've ever read, and Maas is one of my top favorite authors. Like most people I know that have read this series, I am now a devoted Maas fan and could read her books over and over again. If you love stories with lots of characters and character development, complicated storylines, and plays on traditional faerie/fae mythology, Sarah J Maas books are for you! In this first book, Maas took the traditional Beauty & the Beast and made it her own. The second book includes elements of the Greek Hades & Persephone myth. Book three is completely original! Maas has been contracted to write 3 more books for this series and 2 novellas. The first novella was released May 2018. Series order:
1) A Court of Thorns and Roses
2) A Court of Mist and Fury
3) A Court of Wings and Ruin
3.5) A Court of Frost and Starlight

This is a favorite series among my coworkers, and I was finally persuaded to give it a try. The first book is a retelling of the Tam Lin folktale, but with enough twists and turns to keep it fresh and interesting. Although I do not usually enjoy "fairy" books, this one drew me in with the unique characters and quick, suspenseful plotting. I'm starting the next book in the series tonight!

the writing may not be the best from a literature point of view, but it can be really enjoyable if you look past all that. I really enjoyed it because I love women that can hold their own like Feyre does, but the romance is a little... it gets better though. the rest of the series is wonderful. Would totally recommend it for people just trying to enjoy a nice story of magic fairies and plot twits.

If you thought this was good wait till you read the second one, A Court of Mist and Fury. I am hooked on this series like I was with Twilight and Hunger Games but MORE! She did such a good job writing this book/series. I can't believe it took me checking it out 3 times and getting past the first chapter till I finally fell for it. ;) kid you not this series is rated #1. I have read over 100 books in the past 2 years an this has been the best! Read it!!
