A chick-flick book, for the beach or [if winter] Starbucks. But unlike the best such books [Charlene Harris, Nancy Collins, Kat Richardson etc.] this one just didn't have an individual spark, that makes one overlook standard plots etc. It's chewing gum without flavour.
How good it strikes you will depend how bored you are. This is female- oriented urban fantasy, in a boring city.
