"In 2008, almost two decades after the Cold War was officially consigned to the history books, an average American guy in his twenties helped to bring down a top Russian spy based at the United Nations. This American had no formal espionage training. Everything he knew about spying he'd learned from books, movies, video games, and TV. And yet, with the help of an initially reluctant FBI duo, he ended up at the center of a highly successful counterintelligence operation that targeted Russian espionage in America"-- Provided by publisher.

It was OK, ho-hum. I've read way better espionage true stories: Operation Whisper, The Angel, Billion Dollar Spy, Lucie Aubrac, Churchill's Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. I kept on reading because I was hoping something surprising would happen. Didn't happen.

With no previous counter espionage experience, Naveed Jumali learned most of his undercover knowledge from the very unlikely 'sources' Miami Vice and Magnum PI and somehow managed to become a successful one time only spy. It is an interesting book but there are far too many pages of 'filler' and it is often rather slow and even tedious. Overall I was disappointed as the book seems to a self congratulatory book about himself.
Three far better spy books that I've recently read (see my reviews): Double Cross - Ben McIntrye; The Spy's Son - Bryan Denison: A Spy among Friends - Ben McIntyre.
