"Nic and Nigel Martini are visiting New York to attend a cousin's birthday gala, but when the birthday girl's gold-digging cad of a husband goes missing, the social event of the season may turn into a story for the scandal sheets. Nigel's condescending aunt begs Nic to find sleazy Leo, despite the fact that it would be better for everyone if he just stayed lost. Trailing a married bachelor with a penchant for trouble can be downright deadly. Assisted by Nigel and their bull mastiff, Nic must tangle with her old underworld connections if she hopes to hunt down the killer"--Publisher.

I found this book to be silly and disappointing. I really enjoyed this author's books based in Jane Austen's books, but this book was so light it was a waste of my time to read it. I recommend that people read her other series instead.

This was A LOT of fun! Strongly based on The Thin Man, this somewhat screwball mystery takes place in NYC right around the holidays. Nic (short for Nicole) and Nigel Martini are asked by Nigel's aunt to find her niece Audrey's husband, Leo. He has been living off Audrey's money, and gambling, among other unsavory pursuits. Nic and Nigel, and their new bull mastiff, Skippy, search NYC for Leo, and keep coming up against people he owes money to. After leaving several bodies in his wake, Leo returns home to Audrey just in time for her 25th birthday, which is also when she comes into her full inheritance...

Highly recommended for both mystery and humor!
