Can't remember reading an abduction story where the only pov is the rescuer. Although it reflects real life, it doesn't make for an entirely satisfying fictional read, particularly when the protaginist of the series is the one who is missing.

A little off track with this one. Not one of her best.

I normally love Fairstein's books, but Devil's Bridge was a big disappointment. One of THE THREE characters, Coop, didn't show up until the last few pages. THE TWO can't compare with THE THREE.

Plus the story wasn't realistic at all. Fairstein brought it up to 3 stars, a lesser author would have completely failed in my opinion.

I love this series, but find this one falls short of the mark. Fairstein writing in the person of Mike Chapman just doesn't seem real. It sounds too much like a woman's voice. Rather disappointed in the plot as well. Hope the next one is of higher calibre that I have come to expect from Ms. Fairstein.

"She actually called Stephan herself, Jake said, referring to the maître d'."

On page 134 Linda Fairstein refers to the maître d' of Aretsky's Paroon, one of her favorite restaurants in NYC. It's located between Lexington Ave and 3rd Ave and worth trying if you find yourself in need of delicious food in the City.
