Sheriff Longmire and companions Victoria Moretti and Henry Standing Bear embark on a high plains scavenger hunt to reunite mother and son. I"m a huge Craig Johnson fan, especially of the books. This is NOT my favorite in the series. It isn't as funny as most of them. Johnson insists (and so does the editor and most reviewers) in calling this weirdo sect "Mormon." Only one who gets it right--that it is a cult unrelated to the LDS--is Vic, who delights is messing up the name of the cult. I'm not a Mormon myself, but the 50-year-old Mormon men I know are not raping 12 year old girls or killing people for fun and profit; they also put high value on education, so dozens of teen boys who can't read are clearly in a cult not the LDS church. In a decade filled with hate, Johnson should have made some better choices. I wish someone had told me to skip this book and just move on to the next. That is my recommendation to you.
