Louisa Clark is no longer just an ordinary girl living an ordinary life. After the transformative six months spent with Will Traynor, she is struggling without him. When an extraordinary accident forces Lou to return home to her family, she can't help but feel she's right back where she started. Her body heals, but Lou herself knows that she needs to be kick-started back to life. Which is how she ends up in a church basement with the members of the Moving On support group, who share insights, laughter, frustrations, and terrible cookies. They will also lead her to the strong, capable Sam Fielding -- the paramedic whose business is life and death, and the one man who might be able to understand her. Then a figure from Will's past appears and hijacks all her plans, propelling her into a very different future.

Enjoyed the first book. Can't believe this is the same author. Very disjointed and if you had't read the first book, this wouldn't make sense. Felt like the author just grabbed different story lines out of think air and included them in order to fill the pages.

After the emotion of Me Before You, I avoided reading this sequel for about a year. I decided to listen and was pleasantly surprised. Louisa Clark is such a funny and endearing character that she basically carried the story on her own and did so admirably. At the beginning she is trying to climb out of her grief over Will's death and recover from an accident. In doing so she makes new friends, reconnects with family and finds a way forward to the next chapter of her life. I thought the reader of the audio book was fantastic--always a plus. Highly recommended for those who read Me Before You.

After You was a nice, lovely read that had some great feelings and funny characters. I enjoyed this book because it had the same themes of finding yourself and following what’s right for you like Me Before You did but it’s also a lot more about healing and moving on. It also dealt with some heavy feelings and all together it’s some great fiction.

A lovely sequel that does justice to Louisa's character, even if her internal dialogue with Will begins to bore after some time. Highly recommend it, especially if you enjoyed the first!

Romantic love saves the day - again!
Something I just don't see in life. Plus where is the spiritual element in all this. Do these people not have souls! P.S. Once you've had sex, do you not have a "relationship" as well?
Just asking

I didn't find the sequel as good as the first book, "Me Before You." It was good, but it lacked that something. I really liked Will in the first book, and I think he made Me Before You, what it was. After You just didn't have the same feel. Still good though.

I liked this one much better than the first. Great characters, fast easy read, with quirky Englishness galore.

A grand sequel with lots of plot twists.

I really enjoyed the sequel. A different "feel" compared to 'Me Before You' but a heartwarming story. Louisa has a gift of healing "broken souls".

I loved the movie and I gave Me Before You 3 stars because the end was not good for me, but this book?
Awful!!!, everything good that I liked about the movie and Me Before you, this book ruined it!
I should not have read it and just keep the good memory of the movie and other book, now I wont recommend it to anybody. I hated it, UGHH!

The follow-up to the hit. The story of what happened to Lou in the first couple years following Will's death.

Although not as good as Me Before You, Moyes' novel After You was very good. It continues the story of Louisa Clark two years after Will's death. She has a difficult time adjusting to her current life/world, but she realizes she has grown because of her life with Will and now she fears loving too much and losing that love. . . once again. But, by joining a recovery group, ironically, she discovers she is fine and loves again.

[New love interest for Louisa, maybe?]

"Who is this?" I said, though I knew immediately who it was. "Sam. Ambulance Sam. I was just passing by on the way home from work, and I just... Well, you left in such a hurry the other night, I thought I'd make sure you were okay." "A fortnight later? I could have been eaten by cats by now." "I'm guessing you weren't." "I don't have a cat." A short silence. "But I'm fine, Ambulance Sam. Thanks." "Great...That's good to hear." I shifted, so I could see him through the grainy black and white of the little entry video screen. He was wearing a biker jacket instead of his paramedics uniform, and had one hand resting against the wall. He took his hand off the wall and turned to face the road. I saw him let out a breath, and that small motion prompted me to speak. "So...what are you up to?"-excerpt, After You
