This book was recommended to me by several colleagues many months ago and I don't know why I was so slow to get around to reading it! It was a remarkable, uplifting story that was a pleasure to listen to. I've already passed it on to a friend and recommended it to a family member. I enjoyed the back story of a crew member's astounding early life and the details of the mechanics of rowing, which I learned firsthand years ago on the Ohio River.

It includes historical information about the Great Depression through the time leading up to WWII. Not a history buff, I enjoyed the historical fiction-like tone of the book. A delightful read!
