This book is no traditional mystery novel. It's dark, and sometimes even painful. The author knows how to build her characters, and draw a reader into their story. Claire DeWitt is no easy protagonist. By her own admission, her tactics and personality have cost her both friends and clients. But part of what makes this book worth the read is this flawed multidimensional character. I understood her ghosts, and her decisions. I understood the true devastation caused by corruption. At the end of the book, I found myself caring what happened next, and what would be the evolution of each of the characters. This book challenges the reader in many of the best ways.

Great fun! Original chracters, never a cliche to be hurdled. Highly reommend this book, in audio or paper.

Claire DeWitt is self-proclaimed as the world’s greatest detective. This was one of the most inventive and innovative mystery/crime novels I’ve read in a long time. If you like your novels a bit off beat and little bit dark, this book is for you. I’m looking forward getting the 2nd book in the series.

Never be afraid to learn from the ether...That's where knowledge lives before someone hunts it, kills it, and mounts it in a book.
