When you're a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. Jake Becker has a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating-- and that's necessary when he's breaking down a witness on the stand. Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of his life. Chelsea needs someone to help her, defend her... and the kids, too, of course....

I don't really read contemporary romance at all, and yet I enjoyed this one quite a bit. The premise -- douchebag lawyer hero falls for heroine who is responsible for her six nieces and nephews after her brother's death -- is a good one, the two main characters have lots of spark, and watching this cocky hero laid low by a bunch of hilarious kids is super entertaining. This was a super fun weekend read -- romance fans, check it out!

My favorite kind of read. SUSTAINED is definitely a character- driven romance. There is humor, laughter, emotional connections, and a hero and heroine who strike delightful sparks off each other. I love the little ones....they were my FAV.

Love love love Jake! *drools* and the kids! Although they were quite a handful, and very much troublesome, the kids really add another element to the book. It was an emotional yet hilarious journey! Not to mention passionate! Well done Emma Chase <3
