Mystery, twists and turns and a lot of the unexpected as the tale progresses. I was not able to guess a single fact from the clues. Hope you can do better. Enjoyed the mind game of this book.

I LOVE Dean Koontz. Most especially the books where he includes animals, notably Golden Retrievers (as he has owned these dogs and shares an affinity with them). This book featured a golden and was really good - gripping, right from the start. It was right up there with the best of Dean Koontz... until they mention "the dream thing".
Once a story (book or movie) heads into the realm of "this isn't really happening" dream-type stuff, you've lost me. The dream-story paralleling the real story was still good, it was done well, but it just killed my enthusiasm dead. For me, if it's not really happening what's the point? Even though it's a just a story - if that makes sense.
So I sprinted through the first half, chewed through it with vigor, hit the "dream-stuff", and like a car hitting water I hit the brakes, swerved, despaired, swore, resigned myself to it, and made the stubborn looooong crawl to the end. Satisfied that I finished it.
Still a good read, glad I got to meet these characters.

This book is not for people who cannot see the forest for trees, Nor is it for people who cannot see the bigger picture of this book. This book is several stories wrapped in one. It can take a bit of getting used to but its well worth the read

Started out with high hopes for this book. The first one third was building in suspense, but then got bogged down and eventually became silly, with a " I can't believe I invested time to thes book with such a dissapointing even sillier ending!"

At first it was engaging but, I found that after awhile I just seemed to get lost in the endless text. Although the twists and turns were enjoyable for me the book was just too drawn out for me causing moments of boredom.

I was expecting this book to be awesome, and thought I would swallow it up in a few days, but really, it took me much longer, as it failed to hold my interest. I felt like it was written by a teenage girl, and the "artful" prose was quite heavy-handed. If this is some of this author's best work, as per the reviews, I don't think I'll be coming back to him any time soon.

huge lover of the work of dean koontz, this book had some great moments and twists but some were so very cliche that i was a torn on if i should continue reading, i finished it if you are curious and want to give it a read. the ending is alright but not what i was expecting

Really enjoyed the detailed prose and unique style of Dean Koontz which made up
for the very lengthy parts of the story somehow. I believe it is autobiographical because it takes place
in the mind of the main character who is a strong-willed, determined, incredibly imaginative author of fiction, “a dangerous art “ as states one of the evil creations of that very mind.
For Koontz’s fans only !

This was one of my least favorite Koontz books..more complicated, by far, then necessary and too long (and I don't mind long books)..could have used some major editing. Skip this & read his excellent "Innocence".

Hard to get into - too long, couldn't finish

Koontz is back in his groove with this novel of a young woman who is caught between reality and unreality...and as phantoms chase her into the future. Gripping read.
