For twenty years, Kayla, Antoinette, and Val have performed their own special summer ritual. Once a year, the old friends put aside their daily, separate lives to drink champagne, swap stories, and swim naked under the Nantucket stars. This time though, one of them swims out from the shore and doesn't return. After the surviving friends emerge from their grief, they realize that the repercussions of their loss go far beyond their little circle, and they begin to uncover layers of secrets, and their connections to each other, that were never revealed on the beach. What has made their friendship strong now has the power to destroy their marriages, families--and even themselves.

Recommended author by a friend, so I tried out 2 of Elin's books, this and one other. I enjoyed the read pretty well. I'm not really into "romance" novels but her books offer more of a story than just a character trying to "find love."
Yes, I'd read more of her books

I have been reading Elin 's work lately but FOR SOME REASON the story of 45 years old women involved with 18 years old boy romantically doesnt sink in at all and cherry on top of this disgusting developmen is that a baby on the way ..REALLY??

This was my first read by Elin Hilderbrand. It is more of a summer read. I really enjoy the way Elin writes, with regards to the character, Kalyla's thoughts and dealings with her children and later with her friends. It seems like you can picture "Kayla" standing in front of you watching the story unfold. secret that becomes Antoinette's story, I did not enjoy. Without giving anything away, I felt it could have been told completely different as well as the ending too. The ending does leave you wondering and would be a great place to introduce a second book with the continuation. Overall, it has tapped my interest in her writing and will give a few more of her books a try.
