In my opinion, this is among the very best comedy/westerns ever made. Masterful and artistic performances from Fonda and Hill both in the glory years of their careers.

When folks think of "spagetti westerns" they usually thinks of Eastwood, Wallach & Van Cleev. But this fun-filled flick is a great departure from that stereotype. Our heroes, Nobody (Terrance Hill) & Jack (Henry Fonda) depict a changing-of-the guard in old-west bad-assery. What ever happened to good-ol' Terrance anyways?

I was quite interested in checking this one out, being that (I assumed) Sergio Leone was again working with Henry Fonda, as they had done five years earlier in the KILLER Spaghetti Western, "Once Upon a Time in the West", but there is no comparison here. Leone's involvement was only providing an idea for the story -- i.e., he didn't direct. And this one was an absolutely painful, forgettable snooze-fest.

I agree with the first comment. Not Fonda's best but he was so great in so many. I liked the young gunslinger.

Set in the year 1899, this promising, 1973 Comedy (which started out as a darn-good spoof of Spaghetti-Westerns from the 1960s) worked really well until its last 1/2 hour, then its story began to seriously flounder to the point of really pissing me off and so I docked it one star from my rating... This film's story concerns a rather silly relationship of blind adoration between a young, easy-going gunman and his idolized hero, the aging gunslinger named Jack Beauregard who wants nothing more than to retire (with some dignity) from the business.

Violence: People get shot and die. Very little bloodshed.
