The husband-and-wife team of Charles and Ray Eames are widely regarded as America's most important designers. Perhaps best remembered for their mid-century plywood and fiberglass furniture, the Eames Office also created a mindbending variety of other products, from splints for wounded military during World War II, to photography, interiors, multi-media exhibits, graphics, games, films and toys. But their personal lives and influence on significant events in American life - from the development of modernism, to the rise of the computer age - has been less widely understood. Narrated by James Franco, Eames: The Architect and the Painter is the first film dedicated to these creative geniuses and their work.

Super interesting and very well done with all sorts of media elements such as photographs, original footage, interviews, etc.

I really liked this intimate look into the couple's empire and home life. I particularly enjoyed learning about the Eames' interaction with other geniuses of their time such as Herman Miller, and also the chapter about Ray and her huge contribution to the enterprise.
A must see !

A not-too-quickly paced overview of the careers of Ray and Charles Eames, peering into many aspects of their works (design, film, photos, etc.) and lives (starting their office, their marriage, and other aspects of their relationship). Informative, and entertaining too. I wish there was an Eames-like office around here to work in.

A fascinating look at the careers of Charles and Ray Eames, not only focusing on their famous chair designs, but expanding outward to the later years of their designs and work with film. Much more than I expected!

If you are looking for whom to blame for those dreadful plastic chairs, well, look no further.

I always assumed that Charles and Ray Eames, the designers of the famous 'Eames Chair', were brothers. Wrong - they were husband and wife, design collaborators, and business partners. This documentary is less about design and more about the personalities of the Eames', the gender relationships, and the character of the post-Second World War decades.
