So disappointing. When compared to authors like David Weber, Orson Scott Card and Tanya Huff everything falls flat. This is an obvious YA novel by the second chapter filled with whining cardboard cutout characters. Cliche Romeo and Juliet romances. Token oppressed aliens. Plot twits you can see a mile away and barely fleshed out politics. The 'action' didn't start until the end of the book. Will not be reading the sequel.
