Max Schell, Borgnine and Anthony Perkins should have made this a better movie.

This was all state-of-the-art effects when I was a kid. The story is still interesting to this day, even though "the wires show through".

One of my favourite movies. Yes it may be a bit dated now but, for its time, was way ahead.
Great fun!

I too remember this movie fondly from my childhood. The special effects were pretty good for it's time, but may not stand up to a new generation raised on CGI. But it is still a fun movie that kids will enjoy, even if we have no idea what was happening at the end.

This is one of those movies that I remembered nostalgically from my childhood, one that I hadn't seen in years. It's a lot of fun, in a Star Wars kind of way. Only three criticisms: the stars in space look fake; you can see the wires holding the robots and the people in the air; and the ending is ambiguous - in the short documentary the filmmakers explain that when filming began they didn't even have an ending. The music is good, the art and special effects are good for its time. All in all, it holds up pretty well. It's basically Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea set in space.
