Determined to create a new "clean" world, Daniel Boone, who was born and raised among Quakers on the colonial American frontier, leads an expansion west across the Appalachians--first as a hunter pursuing abundant wildlife, then as a father looking for a home for his beloved wife and children--which is plagued by brutality, violence and death.

Prior to reading this book I had no interest in Daniel Boone. The title was what caught me -- All True Not a Lie in It. What a reward! In this outstanding book I found that it was worth reading and paying attention to each word, not racing through as I sometimes do in novels. Tons of information about life in his times. Also realistic and believable. I particularly liked the format where no quote marks were used for the speech or implied talk. It really supported the author's approach that everything was in Boone's head. I would never bother to watch a movie of this book since I believe a movie could never capture the in-my-head kind of way the reader lives the story along with Boone, even if a voiceover were used in the movie. Surprises up to the very end. When I finished the book, just sat there thoughtful and contemplative. It's also a relevant book for people interested in survival experiences. Remarkable book.
