Nina Redmond is a literary matchmaker. Pairing a reader with that perfect book is her passion... and also her job. Or at least it was. Until yesterday, she was a librarian in the hectic city. But now the job she loved is no more. Determined to make a new life for herself, Nina moves to a sleepy village many miles away. There she buys a van and transforms it into a bookmobile--a mobile bookshop that she drives from neighborhood to neighborhood, changing one life after another with the power of storytelling. From helping her grumpy landlord deliver a lamb, to sharing picnics with a charming train conductor who serenades her with poetry, Nina discovers there's plenty of adventure, magic, and soul in a place that's beginning to feel like home... a place where she just might be able to write her own happy ending.

As a booklover myself, I really enjoyed this book, more than I expected. It was an interesting story, too, besides the respect for books. I'll definitely read more of this author's books.

This was such an easy and fabulous read. It had everything I wanted a little bit of romance, a little bit of comedy, a sassy best friend, a hot farmer, and lots of books. Nina is a city girl that works at a library, but once the library closes she decides to spend her severance on a quirky van to save the books from the library to make a mobile bookshop. She ends up moving to the country where there are less permits and more opportunities to get involved in the country. Real cute read, but nothing ground breaking.

If you’re looking for an escape, this whimsical, charming read will transport you to a sleepy village in Scotland, where a young woman named Nina follows her dream of opening a mobile bookshop. Along the way, she’ll make some unlikely friends and even take a chance on romance. This is the perfect lighthearted read for lazy summer days.

A quick and fun read, but things fall together a little bit too perfectly. Scotland sounds gorgeous though!

This was truly a great escape from the news of today! This time, I escaped to Scotland where a young girl was getting dumped from her library job that no longer needed her services due to technology. She turned the bad news into good by purchasing a used van and turning it into a traveling bookshop. Recommended to bibliophiles everywhere.

This is such a sweet story...a great read on rainy weekend or a beach read. It is not your standard romance story but more of a journey of finding yourself and your place home. It reminded me a bit of Chocolat, except it is books and reading versus sweets and eating. I was hooked right away when poor Nina lost her library job, and she decided to take a chance on her passion. It is something I would love to do, but am not that gutsy at all. I relate to Nina when it comes to reading and books. I write book reviews and love recommending as I love when someone gets excited over a story like I do. Matching a book to a reader is one of the best feelings. I also love "rescuing" books, and find it hard to part with them. The setting of a small village in Scotland was so picturesque, I want to live there. And, can I say, how great is it to have an Indian character in a book about books! I do wish Surinder was a reader and the main character but still great to have her as the best friend and without all the stereotyping. I enjoyed listening to this on audio a lot!

Easy, fun, charming book. The plot is simple enough, but it has enough twists to make it interesting.
I loved the setting and the characters, and of course the books!
It was exactly what I needed, a simple and uplifting book.
My only quibble is with the title since the book is not on the corner...

The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan pulled me in immediately. Colgan’s breezy, witty writing style made this novel a joy to read. The novel captures so many emotions just right. Nina’s many issues with her huge van make me chuckle; as do her mishaps with love. The lush descriptions of the beautiful Scotland Highlands and the friendly locals makes me want to visit and see it for myself.

First book I've read from Jenny Colgan - love love loved it, couldn't put it down. Made me want to go visit Scotland even more since it's part of my heritage.
