This was not my favorite Julie Klassen book.
There were so many characters and they all had their own little side stories that the main storyline had a lot of disjoints in it. I wondered at times who Klassen intended to have the main character be.
I didn't appreciate the writing as well as some of other Klassen's books either.

First time reading Julie Klassen and I was very pleased. The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill is about resilience, determination and strength of a gentle woman's character. The main character is Jane, a recent widow, but there are also several other women in the novel that the author gives enough clues to suggest a sequel or two. Ms. Klassen writes well and focus is more on life in a gentle english village and building relationships, rather than a cheap romance with history thrown in.

The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill is the first book in Julie Klassen’s Tales from Ivy Hill series. When the story first started, I thought, “Oh no, another helpless, clueless female that has no idea what is going on around her!” But Jane Bell didn’t stay downtrodden. She rallied and became aware that life wasn’t just about her losses. She had to save the inn, not just for herself, but for her husband’s legacy and the good of the town. Of course, there’s a villain who wants to see the inn close. So, Jane must race to save her inheritance with help from some old and new friends. Can she make it before she loses everything? That’s the final question. I can’t wait for the next installment! If you like Regency Romance with history throw into the mix, then this story is for you. Ms. Klassen did a great job.
