Thor's hammer is missing again. The thunder god has a disturbing habit of misplacing his weapon--the mightiest force in the Nine Worlds. But this time the hammer isn't just lost, it has fallen into enemy hands. If Magnus Chase and his friends can't retrieve the hammer quickly, the mortal worlds will be defenseless against an onslaught of giants. Ragnarok will begin. The Nine Worlds will burn. Unfortunately, the only person who can broker a deal for the hammer's return is the gods' worst enemy, Loki--and the price he wants is very high.

I love how diverse the characters are in this series. It makes the books interesting and more relatable. Really fun to read Rick's works.

"The Hammer of Thor" is the second book of another incredible Rick Riordan book series. In this series, it was fascinating to see the development of many of the main characters like Alex Fierro and Samirah, a change in his normal writing style but not uninvited. Another thing that has changed is the gods. In this series, we found ourselves with the Norse gods instead of the Greek's making these books very different than his previous works. Though very different, I would recommend this series to readers who enjoyed "The Trials of Apollo" or the "The Kane Chronicles". Or people who just like reading about Norse mythology.

I love how Rick Riordan took complicated issues (i.e. gender fluidity, disabilities, etc. ) and turned them simply funny. And I also love how Alex and Magnus fell in love *heart*.

Seriously Rick, I know everything has to be politically correct now, but do Alex Fierro and Magnus have to fall in love?????

A little predictable, but with the introduction of new characters and the set up for the finale, I feel like the next book could be pretty exciting

SOOO...
(Not really about MC, but...) WHY aren't there any female characters on the cover?
ie, PERCY JACKSON and the Olympians, MAGNUS CHASE and the gods of Asgard, etc.
At least SADIE'S a big character, but it's not SADIE KANE and the Egyptian Chronicles, or whatever.

Well, I mean, when in doubt, turn to Alex Feirro - awesome!
(You can tell he supports all the Musilum transgender stuff. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!)

It was just as good a The first book and had more of my favorite characters (Hearthstone and Loki) I finished it in a day and now I've got my younger brother reading it! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes Norse mythology.

Characters: 9/10
Plot: 9/10
Writing: 10/10
It was interesting to see character development take more of the forefront in this novel. The development of Alex, Samirah, and Hearth, in particular, took the spotlight in quite a few scenes. This is a change of pace from Riordan's earlier works, though not an unwelcome one. I'm also curious where Riordan is going with Uncle Randolph.

"Chasing assassin," I blurted out, dodging a taxi. "Killed goat."
"Right," Jack said. "Same old, same old, then."
