This one isn't one of my favourite Star Trek Movies but I did enjoy it.

This movie, the first to be directed by a cast member of the show, shows that the writers actually bothered to do their research on the show. It captured the friendship and respect that the main characters, (not just Kirk/McCoy/Spock), had for each other. And I actually get emotional seeing the Enterprise, a 23rd century machine, get destroyed.

This was my favorite of the first three films to be released featuring the original cast. I really liked how all the characters were portrayed and, though Spock as we knew him was not in the majority of the film, he was in it and it was very interesting to see. I also really enjoyed Christopher Lloyd's portrayal of the Klingon commander. I was so used to seeing him in comedic roles that this was quite a change, and one I liked very much.
