Do you like mystery? Do you like things that *seem* like magic but aren't *exactly* magic? Do you like dangerous adventures, secret societies, and historical ties to the present? If you answered yes to any of the above, then you will probably like this book--I know I did.

A fun book with plenty of fantasy, mystery and thrilling adventures. Jack Buckles is different beyond his wildest imagination. He tries to isolate himself from the overwhelming input of the word, but must learn to use his synesthesia as a gift to follow clues, solve puzzles & codes to find his way back to his family again. Jack teams up with Gwen to find what the nefarious Clockmaker demands - two teens out to save London in a day! I look forward to the next in series.

This whole story takes place over the course of a single day, making it a very fast-paced sleuthing adventure. The story is a satisfying puzzle and the characters invite you right into their lives. I also enjoyed the descriptions of Jack's experiences with synesthesia and how he grows to use his unique mind as an asset instead of a challenge.

A solid middle grade adventure that will definitely appeal to fans of Rick Riordan!
