New York Times bestselling and Newbery and Carnegie Medal-winning author Neil Gaiman and Kate Greenaway-winning illustrator Chris Riddell have created a thrillingly reimagined fairy tale. The result is a beautiful and coveted edition of The Sleeper and the Spindle. In this captivating and darkly funny tale, Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell have twisted together the familiar and the new as well as the beautiful and the wicked to tell a brilliant version of Snow White's (sort of) and Sleeping Beauty's (almost) stories.

I checked out the audio book and hard copy of the book at the same time, intending to follow along in the book as it was read to my daughter and me. I didn't like that the audio book skipped the parts of the story around the dialogue, which is where descriptions of characters were nestled and bits of story even. It even skips an entire paragraph in which a major plot twist dawns on the queen. NOT a well-done reading. (The story is still good, even if this reading is not--that is why it has more than one star.)

This was a quirky look at a favourite fable. I think it breathes actual life into the characters

An enchanting and topsy-turvy take on the Sleeping Beauty fable, the dwarves, and even Snow White, cleverly told, surprising, and very short, just one disc!
