This is a hokey book. I can see that the dialogue would seem that way as much of the story starts in 1950. However even the narrative seems dated and overdone to the point where I just want to scream. Way too much useless detail, won't continue after reading several chapters.

Very conflicted about this book. The characters are realistic and interesting. the settings are well described. the plot seems worthwhile. But, there is little action. I'm 1/2 way through the book(p 139) and little has happened!!!! Given an infinite amount of time would continue, but the lack of action leaves me with many things more pressing. Seems to me this would be a GREAT book at half the length!
