A look at modern college life through the eyes of a former campus activist turned college president. It brings up multiple issues facing colleges (admissions, tenure, political protest) and tells a dramatic story, but is limited by its very personal viewpoint, and the other characters aren't fully developed.

Naomi Roth is president, the first woman and Jewish person, at Webster College, a highly regarded liberal arts school in Massachusetts. Omar is a scholarship student with a tragic Palestinian refugee past and Nicholas Gall is a popular teacher who will not receive tenure. Readers will join them and others during a year of demonstrations and media scrutiny, touching on some of higher education’s current issues.

Although entertaining and with pacing that moved right along, I’m not sure the audience for this book is very broad, Plus, for a book with an academic setting, it, ironically, had more copy editor misses than I’ve seen in a long time. Failing grade on those!
