Stephanie Meyer, author of the infamous ‘Twilight Saga’ has broken out of her mold, from Supernatural YA to an intense spy thriller, where the pages keep turning until the book is done. ‘Alex’ is a woman you would not want to mess with. She possesses a certain set of skills, that at one point made her invaluable to the U.S. government but now put a target on her back.

I really enjoyed The Host, so I thought I'd give this a whirl. It was good, a little slow in the first chapter. I don't think this was Stephanie's best work, but I still enjoyed it overall. Easy and quick read for a Sunday morning that doesn't require much thought.

Entertaining. Some of it was unnecessary.

There are a lot complaints about Meyer's books, and I never understood why. I'm a big fan of Twilight and The Host, and now The Chemist adds itself to that shelf. Her writing is incredibly addictive and engaging, her characters much more well defined than the stereotypes that traipse across the pages of other books.

This book was just okay. Entertaining, yes, but nothing groundbreaking, which is fine because that's what I was expecting. I enjoyed her previous work, The Host, much more. Like others have mentioned, there's an excessive amount of description in the writing, and the romance portion is a bit juvenile and unbelievable (at least for me personally!). The juvenility makes sense for a work like her Twilight series more directed at teens, but seemed odd in an adult novel.

I can’t belive I made myself finish this. I was hoping it would get better, but it was a ridiculous plot and totally implausible. I loved her other books! It’s funny that I could climb into the Twilight serious and be all in with vampires, but I didn’t belive the chemist for a minute!

I really enjoyed this book. I found it engaging and kept my attention the whole way through. I actually listened to the audiobook and can credit much of that to Ellen Archer, the narrator , excellent job. I will be listening to more of her. The only part I wasn’t a fan of was the epilogue. I would have liked to of heard it from Alex herself but it still answered all my questions except, did they go back for Lola? I’m going to assume yes. Great audiobook listen, just like the Host. I recommend this book.

I was so excited to finally read this new book from Stephenie Meyer. It took me awhile to get into it. The beginning started with a third person narrative and lengthy detailed information which was a bit much. After the first 100 pages, it had parts where I couldn't put the book down, and couldn't wait to read it the next day. I think a lot of great parts, and to many lulls. Her love interest s/h been Kevin and where's Lola?

I think this author is a very good writer, especially when creating some memorable and unique characters. I was intrigued by this book's premise and for the most part, I enjoyed it. But it did go on far too long and was lacking in a few unexpected twists... kept waiting for a big surprise that just didn't happen. I found the chemistry side of the weaponry angle very interesting though!!

I read several of Ms. Meyers earlier books - Twilight series. They were mostly 2 -3 stars. I picked up in the new story section at MCPL and read the summary. Intrigued by that I went ahead and checked it out. From the first couple pages I was hooked. Finished it in three days. This was a good read, not a fluffy sparkly one.

While some might find parts implausible, I enjoyed the entire story. Epilogue was tad "soft". But I'd read it again.

I've never been drawn to someone the way I am to you, and I have been from the very first moment I met you. It's like the difference between...between reading about gravity and then falling for the first time.”
