Alex & Eliza was such an adorable book that I kept wanting to read more and more. The author managed to make me swoon over a fictional character, Alexander Hamilton, because he was so sweet, charming, handsome (at least in my head), and in general just absolutely amazing. A classic wartime love story, but not taking place during the infamous World Wars, but instead during the American Revolution that took place from 1775 to 1783. The ideals of the 18th century were perfectly melded into the book’s plot, such as the formal language, Alexander’s chivalry (obviously), the former customs, and the image of the war through the soldiers’ eyes. This book was honestly so cheesy but beautiful, and kept me rooting for the Eliza and Alex. De La Cruz wrote nothing about physical romance between the two characters, and still managed to pull off a great romance novel that begged me to keep reading. I give this book a 5/5 star rating and recommend it to ages 13 and up.

Meh. It was cute, but slow.

Alex and Eliza is a wonderful novel about the romantic relationship between the second Schuyler sister and the ginger ten dollar founding father. Melissa De La Cruz did a wonderful job, and I can't wait to read Love and War!

Two restless Patriots find love against the backdrop of the American Revolutionary War. Alexander Hamilton was an orphan, always looking for a place to belong, and Eliza Schuyler was the often overlooked middle daughter of one of America's royal families - though their fortune was waning. Through a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings, a slow relationship forms, though neither party is ready to declare their feelings for each other until it may be too late.

Intended as a companion piece to the 'Hamilton' musical, the events may match, but the book manages to work on its own merit, filling in holes and gaps in the love story of Alex and Eliza

I was kind of disappointed by this book. Alex and Eliza are separate for most of it. Add on a creepy marriage prospect, and I was not a fan. I did enjoy seeing the Schylur sisters.

I enjoyed the book, but thought it was a little slow in the middle of the story line.

Love historical fiction which makes one want to find out more! This is the story leading up to Alexander Hamilton's marriage to Elizabeth Schuyler.

For those who like historical fiction, this is an excellent book. Very charming love story about Colonel Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler. A must read!

Even if you aren't a #Hamilfan, you'll still love this swoony, funny and fantastically researched account of Eliza and Alex. It reads like rom-com fanfic and the banter between Angelica, Eliza, (and Peggy!) make these story fresh.

Also brilliant on audio!

Lately, I've been turning away books that hinted it was a romance novel. However, I was intrigued by this book. I've heard great things about Hamilton (I'm not a musical kind of person, but now I want to see it) and I've read some books by Melissa de la Cruz that I've enjoyed, so I thought I would give this book a try. I adored it. I thought it was really cute.
