"In the earliest days of our nation, a handful of unsung heroes--including women, slaves, and an Iroquois chief--made crucial contributions to our republic. They pioneered the ideas that led to the Bill of Rights, the separation of powers, and the abolition of slavery. Yet, their faces haven't been printed on our currency or carved into any cliffs. ... [The author] tells the story of liberty's forgotten heroes."--P. [2] of jacket.

Opinion

From Library Staff

Senator Mike Lee writes about the influential, liberty-minded Americans who aren't household names — including women, slaves, and an Iroquois chief — but who helped shape our Constitution.

This book was written by a complete whackadoodle, and a completely historically inaccurate misinformation spewer! ! !
Aaron Burr was a soundrel and criminal of the first order, which was why Alexander Hamilton was so against him!
When I was in college in the D.C. area, researching a paper at the Library of Congress, I happened upon the copy of the utility legislation Burr created for New York state, which had some most devious and clever clauses inserted throughout by Burr, granting Aaron Burr sole power to charter any and all banks in New York for perpetuity!
Un-frigging-believable!?!?!? Which led to the ending of friendship and partnership when Hamilton discovered this! [Remember, this was only supposed to be concerning water utility in NY.]
The politician writing this must be hopelessly corrupt. . .
