Eric was 150 pounds overweight, depressed, and sick. After a lifetime of failed diet attempts, and the onset of type 2 diabetes due to his weight, Eric went to a new doctor, who surprisingly prescribed a shelter dog. And that's when Eric met Peety: an overweight, middle-aged, and forgotten dog who, like Eric, had seen better days. The two adopted each other and began an incredible journey together, forming a bond of unconditional love that forever changed their lives. Over the next year, just by going on walks, playing together, and eating plant-based foods, Eric lost 150 pounds, and Peety lost 25. As a result, Eric reversed his diabetes, got off all medication, and became happy and healthy for the first time in his life-eventually reconnecting with and marrying his high school sweetheart.

This is an amazing book! First of all, Eric is so easy to relate to. His terrible life as a fat person is heart breaking. But the transformation, through his relationship with canine Peeti and adopting a plant-based diet, is phenomenal. On so many levels, this is a fantastic book! Thank you Eric and Peeti.

Inspiring. The very overweight author with multiple health problems takes the advice of a doctor to become vegan and get a dog for forced exercise. This is not the solution for everyone but for this man it worked. I enjoyed his weight loss journey and how adopting a dog became a good source of exercise (for man and dog) not to mention the human to animal bonding that took place. This is also a good book for the person who is starting at square one to change to a healthier diet. If this guy did it, anyone can.
