In 1978, three months after the death of comedy icon Charlie Chaplin, his body disappeared from its grave in Corsier-Sur-Vevefy, Switzerland. Examining Magistrate Jean-Daniel Tenthorey and the Swiss Police had no clues to follow, only ridiculous rumors. It would be quite some time before the robbers would eventually contact the family asking for a half million Swiss Francs. After being denied by the family, the robbers would lower the amount a number of times before escalating threats of violence.

This should have been an interesting little documentary but it is quite painful to watch because it is so poorly put together. Most (French speaking Swiss people) struggle to get their point across in English when they could have much more easily just spoken their native language with subtitles. Which brings me to the subtitles which are white graphics usually on light colored backgrounds; they were really difficult to read. Even the English historian was hard to listen to with his 'um's and 'uh's; I wanted to reach down his throat and pull the words out.

If you want to know about this I suggest you just look on Wikipedia or Google it.

A well told account of the literal theft of Chaplin's coffin. With limited technology and tracking devices, it took the authorities awhile to locate the new burial site and the body snatcher, who tried in vain to extract ransom money. Not reading the fine print beforehand, I thought I was in for a comedy, but being a big fan of Charlie, I needed to see it. If I ever got a tattoo, I would seriously consider this man's image etched on my skin forever.
