Matt Damon is shrunk to 5 inches tall to escape his life in the real world. The movie starts out interesting, but then it seems to have too many plots, and unlikable characters. I was disappointed in this film.

An unexpectedly enjoyable film with an entertaining cast. I took away the underlying moral that you can't always run away from your problems.

This is an odd one, but with an intriguing premise. The plot does end up veering in a weird way. There's a number of fun cameos including Neil Patrick Harris, Laura Dern, and Niecy Nash, and I personally would have liked to have seen more of Kristen Wiig.

Very weird. Kept waiting for it to get better. Finally turned it off.

Starts off with a creative concept but the plot veers wildly in the second half. Interesting to watch the idea of miniaturization as a solution to climate change move from a weird scientific concept to hesitant adoption to general acceptance, as represented by the bland husband-and-wife team of Matt Damon and Kristin Wiig.

long and boring. The beginning was interesting, but that's it. It's as if there is no plot.

This is not a comedy, however does take an introspective look at humanity, with thoughtful dialogue and ramifications. This film does asks the question, if given the technology would we be willing to irreversibly shrink ourselves to 5 inches tall to protect the environment, Earth. Become less and to demand less.
This is a fine film, that moves along methodically, but find the journey well worth the thought and vision.
Good performance by the main characters, Matt Damon, Hong Chau, Christoph Waltz and supporting actors and actresses including Kristin Wigg, and Jason Sudeikis and Rolf Lassgard.
There is no special features on this DVD.

This is a good movie, not a great one overall, but it has its moments. In the end it's a movie about people, the relationships between them (us) and what in the end they (we) find most valuable. It's not a comedy from any aspect. But, it is a metaphor for the place humanity finds itself in at this particular juncture in history. From reading the comments it's obvious a lot of folks were disappointed, and considered it a huge waste of time. I've watched it several times, and each time come away with something valuable. The profanity one reviewer mentioned was to me, an important aspect of the story line, and as all comedy is based in pain provides a bit of both at just the right moment. It's the subtlety of both the movie and the acting I found most enjoyable, a wonderful respite from the normal pummeling of FX and CGI, titillation and excess, bad behavior and ugly consequences that make up a large portion of cinema today.

had promise but halfway through just seemed to meander with no real purpose as if someone didnt quite know what to do with it...

I agree with lgraf, not funny.
The trailer was bogus.
I guess anything Mat Demon does anymore is crap.

And then of course, when we get to politics, Israelis shrinking Palestinians,

-Ron. Look, Ron. In any major transformation of society, are there serious growing pains?

No offense, but um... do you think if you're that small you should still have all the same rights as the rest of us normal-sized people? I mean, like the right to vote?
-Why wouldn't we?
Oh, well, jeez, let's see, um... You don't buy as many products, you're not paying as much sales tax, and some of you aren't even paying any income tax. I mean, you're not really participating in our economy, are you?

The world has already seen five major extinctions, and now there will be another. I...I didn't want to believe it. None of us did, but there we were in Helsinki, big and small. Climatologists, bacteriologists, demographers, physicists, immunologists, 26 Nobel Prize winners among us. We built all the models, did all the math, and all conclusion was consistent. Homo Sapiens will soon vanish from the Earth. It is now an actuarial certainty. No matter how the end will come-- environmental disaster, pandemic disease, unbreathable air, impotable water, not enough food, nuclear winter, some combination of them all. Relatively soon the Earth will indeed purge itself of human life, and God knows how many other species.

Equivalent value. You're solidly inside the Blue Chip zone. In Leisureland your $152,000 translates to $12.5 million-- to live on, for life.

Oh, did you hear about all that gas being released in Antarctica? From the ice? The methane?
-Oh, I haven't really been following the news that much lately.
Apparently it's a big deal. Scientists are saying the more the ice melts, the more methane comes out making more ice melt.

I ask myself, Dusan, why the people they want to become small? To help the environment? Please. They become small to have the things which until now were only for the rich, which, by the way, is the genius of the concept.
