I think this movie is a bit misunderstood. It's a snapshot of a girl's life in the early 2000s, attending Catholic school in Sacramento. "Lady Bird" is almost legally an adult, but this movie proves she still has a lot to learn (I'm sure all of us can relate to this). "Lady Bird&qu... Read More »

Something about this movie just didn't feel believable and I wasn't all that entertained by it. It just seemed to go nowhere and I thought the editing didn't do it justice. Loose ends all over the place.

As uneventful a movie as you'll ever find. No, I don't need to see buildings blowing up, guns going off and pools of blood on the sidewalk, but I do need to see a story with a beginning, middle and end, which Gerwig is unwilling to give me. Maybe she got the idea from Kevin Smith, but the episodic story with no dramatic tension bores me. Chalamet is good as a snarky kid who's not as smart as he thinks he is. Laurie Metcalf as the mother does stellar work; really she's the only actor worth praising.

This movie is not for everyone. If you remember being a senior in high school, anxious to find your place in the world and to get away from home, and struggled with relationships (esp. with a parent), this will bring back a lot of memories. The acting of the mother and daughter was outstanding. The daughter is played by an Irish actress who pulled off an American accent very well. Like those high school years, there are heart breaks and highlights. Pretty well done!

I just thought this movie was ok. Nice shots of Sacramento, and Laurie Metcalf was great as the mom. Some funny parts to it, but this isn't Juno. I just don't understand the hype and praise this movie received. I guess I have to watch it again.

Saw it the second time. It's worthy of seeing. Regardless of Academy Awards.

Quite a good indy flick featuring some fine performances.

One of the better movies I've seen over the last few years but if your idea of a good movie is the typical Hollywood blockbuster, skip this movie, it isn't.

Ugh, this is a terrible movie. Much too long, too much swearing and the storyline in general didn't make any sense. It had promise in the beginning but I didn't like the characters at all. Glad I checked this out at the library instead of paying to see it. NO idea why people love this movie so much or why it got such rave reviews but to each his own, I guess.

5 Academy Award Nominations. How could this even be considered for one nomination? Dreary and silly. I did not like this movie.

This must be one of my favourite coming of age movies. This movie wasn’t like other movies as I feel it was more realistic in that idea of relationships and daily life. It shows the perspective of living through a high school point of view. I loved the main character in this movie, Lady bird, the actress and character herself were both very well done. I also liked Kyle, he was different from other boys but was also very rude and strange. This movie had a lot of relatable parts throughout and was entertaining. I would recommend watching this movie with friends as it is a good laugh. 4.5/5 stars @EffyStonem of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board.

So there is a lot of buzz about this movie Lady Bird, and so I was intrigued to see if it worth the hype and was like an award contender film and I will say I really enjoyed myself. I think the film is quite funny, I laughed pretty consistently throughout at the joke and it is definitely entertaining and never left me bored or disinterested in what was happening. So just from an entertainment value it has the laughs it is a nice, easy breezy kind of viewing experience. I will say some of the editing and some of the story points and flow did not work so well in fact a little bit choppy but in general I think it was a pretty solid job. I think overall Lady Bird is exactly what you are anticipating it to be it really is kind of typical, snarky, and sarcastic indie film about young adults or teenager that we have seen many times before but to its credit this one is executed very very well. So if you enjoyed the trailer of Lady Bird, I think you really gonna enjoy this film. 4/5 Stars. @moviefanatic of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

This was THE perfect movie to watch during a rare night in with my high school daughter. We both enjoyed the very real and complex relationship between the mother and daughter. We laughed a lot, cried a little, and found plenty of things to discuss. This is an authentic portrait of how we are all trying to find our true selves in an often unpredictable world. The casting was excellent. We'd watch it again in a heartbeat.

Lady Bird: But do you like me?*
(Conversation continued as the first quote in IMDb page)
Marion: I want you to be the very best version of yourself that you can be.
Lady Bird: What if this is the best version?
